OCTO CalReact features high-quality cast acrylic body construction, a PH probe holder to allow constant monitoring of water alkalinity (PH level) with the use of a PH probe (sold separately), a built-in bubble counter for CO₂ flow rate calculation, reverse water flow for CO₂ recirculation to maximise contact time with the coral media which produces CO2.
Powered by our VarioS DC pump which features a pinwheel impeller, a detachable controller, high quality ceramic shaft and bearing to reduce wear and tear, and the latest variable speed flow technology for refined control, enhanced performance, energy-efficiency and safer operations.
Unlike the vast majority of circulation pumps which uses alternating current (AC), our VarioS pump boasts several key advantages over traditional AC pumps, namely, higher energy efficiency, safer operations at a working voltage of 24V and most notably, the variable speed control to adjust the ideal mix of air and water flow into the skimmer.
Note: This is not a pressure-rated pump. This pump is not for second floor applications or to feed Beckett or downdraft skimmers where constant pressure is required.
How it works
A calcium reactor is essentially a chamber full of Aragonite which is natural form of carbonate mineral, or commonly known as crushed hard corals. Aquarium water is circulated through this chamber along with carbon dioxide (CO2). The CO2 lowers the pH in the chamber to an acidic level which dissolves the carbonate minerals into the aquarium water. In addition to dissolving the carbonate minerals, this process also dissolves nearly all the minerals and trace elements the coral needed in order to grow.
Automated Calcium and Alkalinity supplementation – When set up properly with external controller and probe. These perimeters can be pre-set with very little monitoring and maintenance.

The AP9X Mounting Arm is a sleek, low profile mounting option designed for the new Kessil AP9X Controllable LED Light. The AP9X Mounting Arm allows the fixture to be mounted with just a single arm, providing maximum light spread with minimum intrusion on tank aesthetics. The mounting arm also includes an integrated swivel joint, giving you the ability to easily adjust and orient your light to eliminate shadowing. The unit can be adjusted in height and from back to front (for 18" - 24" wide tanks) and features internal cable management to route power cords through the arm for a flawless finish.
The AP9X is also backwards-compatible with all AP700 mounting options, including the Hanging Kit and two standard Mounting Arms.
Seachem Reef Reactor Lg
Reef Reactor™ is a high-purity source of aragonite, which supplies all important elements for optimal ionic balance and robust coral growth and coloration in reef aquaria. It has a grain size of approximately 1-3 cm. (Reef Reactor™ Md is 0.5 - 1 cm). It is intended for use in calcium reactors where it is dissolved slowly with the addition of CO2. As it dissolves, it provides calcium, magnesium, strontium, potassium, and carbonates among other important elements for reef aquaria. It is excellent at increasing and stabilizing alkalinity, which also supports a stable pH and encourages the rapid formation of coral skeletal material. With high levels of both calcium and magnesium, it offers an excellent means of balanced supplementation for rapid growth and propagation of corals and calcareous animals in reef aquaria. It possesses the highest level of soluble potassium of all competing brands while exhibiting the lowest levels of both aluminum and phosphorus.
Rinse Reef Reactor™ prior to initial placement in your calcium reactor. The rate of water flow through the reactor in conjunction with the pH of the water inside the reactor will control the rate of media dissolution. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions furnished with the calcium reactor and adjust the rates of water flow and CO2 injection to attain the desired concentrations of calcium and alkalinity in the effluent.
