The Pinnatus Batfish, also called the Dusky Batfish or Red-Faced Batfish, is a wonder to behold, billowing gracefully through the aquarium as if flying in slow motion. A round black body and large round fins outlined by a fiery orange corona give this fish a commanding presence. Some see the shadow of a gliding hawk with two outstretched wings in its stunning profile. It can potentially grow to an adult height of 18 inches, measuring from the tip of the dorsal to the tip of the anal fin.
It is peaceful and hardy when provided with a deep tank of at least 300 gallons and plenty of unobstructed room to swim. Not a good reef dweller, it will eat many types of sessile invertebrates including corals and anemones. As with all Batfish, the Pinnatus is susceptible to ich.
When first introduced into the aquarium, live saltwater feeder shrimp should be used to entice this fish to eat. A varied diet of meaty foods such as shrimp, scallops, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, and frozen herbivore preparations will help the Pinnatus to thrive, especially when fed three times a day.

A liquid high concentrate of non-toxic bacteria (40 million bacteria per ml) carefully selected for their capacity in breaking down organic matter and for transforming ammonia in aquariums. This product can be used in new or existing fresh and saltwater aquariums to transform highly toxic ammonia into nitrites and nitrites into nitrates. NITRIDAC actually causes the rapid degeneration of organic compounds reducing the build up of sediment or mud, restores aquarium walls and beds preventing the formation and growth of algae and also prevents an increase in nitrites.
