Removes organic pollutants, stains, and entrained toxic gases in marine and freshwater aquariums or ponds. Contains the finest pelletized activated bituminous coal based carbon. Pore size is in the 20 to 2,000 Angstrom range, ideally suited for removal of large organic molecules. Super activated with very high iodine and molasses numbers. Less than .2% ash making it suitable for sensitive species such as discus. Will not leach phosphates or promote undesirable algae growth, suited to sensitive reef systems! Engineered for water flow, will not clog easily like small granular or pelleted carbons. Out performs any carbon especially coconut shell!
Reef Carbon is dusty. This is a necessary characteristic of the finest carbons and is a small price to pay for a carbon that is so active, low in phosphates, and ash, so rinse well in cold running tap water. This will take some effort.
IN THE AQUARIUM: Place in a polyester bag or filter chamber and position for maximum water flow through the carbon.
IMPORTANT: You can use as any other carbon, but best results will be obtained by using any carbon for only 3 days per month or so. (This is because any carbon will continue to remove trace elements long after it is totally plugged with organics.) Use only enough to remove the color from the water.
Considerations for use:
Reef Carbon is also soft (this is due to pore size and makeup) and could release dust into the system if mechanically stirred too rapidly. Do not place where water will drop a large distance directly onto the product or churn it violently. Because Reef Carbon is so active, you can use considerably less than with other carbons (about 1/4 lb. or 1 cupful per 100 gallons of tank capacity, you may need more or less depending on how dirty the tank is). Reef Carbon will have done its job, so dose the tank with Kent Marine Essential Elements, Discus Essential, Freshwater Essential, or A F Cichlid Rift Lake Trace Elements as appropriate for your type of system to restore trace elements removed by any carbon. CAUTION: Recent products introduced by other manufacturers that contain strong enzymes may dissolve the binder that holds Reef Carbon together. If this happens the carbon can come apart and cause an ugly mess in your tank. Because of this, DO NOT USE ENZYME PRODUCTS WITH Reef Carbon! Simply remove the carbon, use the product, then replace the carbon several days later.
Bituminous coal based, steam activated, pelletized carbon.
Rinse well prior to using.
Sea hares (Anaspidea)
The clade Aplysiomorpha, commonly known as sea hares, are Opisthobranchia with a soft internal shell made of protein. It is a voracious hair algae eating animal
Sea cucumber (Holothuroidea)
Sea cucumbers are scavengers, moving along the seafloor and feeding on tiny particles of algae or microscopic marine animals collected with tube feet that surround their mouths. The particles they grind down to smaller pieces are further broken down by bacteria and become part of the ocean’s nutrient cycle. This is a similar role to that which earthworms perform on land.
Blue Leg Hermit Crab (Clibanarius tricolor)
The Dwarf Blue Leg Hermit Crab or simply Blue Leg Hermit Crab, has blue legs with red banding. It is good at removing hair algae and detritus, and fair at removing some kinds of cyanobacteria and film algae.
Mosura Graze Active is a specially selected growth media for mycelia. Mycelia is the vegetative part of fungi that generates nutritive components such as crude protein, amino acid, crude fat, crude cellulose and polysaccharide, all of which are important for shrimp growth and well being. Graze Active contains added lactobacillus to help activate the growth process of mycelia. Lactobacillus functions to enhance the production of folic acid and vitamins, improves palatability and cleanses water conditions.
Even though the shrimps are attracted immediately to Mosura Graze when it is introduced into the tank, it is perfectly normal to have white flakes left over. These flakes do not pollute water and will serve as a medium for mycelia to grow. As a result there will be a constant source of food for the shrimps for weeks (depending on the amount dosed and the amount of livestock), thus making it to suitable to be used as a food supplement during holiday periods.
Ingredients: Processed bean extract, lactobacillus
