JBL pH-Plus Mode of action:
In freshwater : natural pH-increase by increasing the carbonate hardness (KH). In excessively soft water the carbonate hardness may be raised to any desired level by adding multiple doses. Especially recommended, when keeping lake Malawi cichlids.
In saltwater : adjusting the caronate hardness to 10-12 d, the value of natural saltwater, and therefore adjusting the required pH-value to 8,3-8,4.
The pH-level indicates the acidity of the water. The higher the pH-level, the less acid is in the water, the proportion of alkali is higher (the opposite of acids). The lower the pH-level, the more acid the water contains. In aquariums and ponds the following levels are desirable.
Saltwater (marine) aquariums: pH: If the pH-level is above the levels given, it should be gradually reduced. Before the pH-level is reduced, the pH-stability of the water must be checked! In order to do this, the carbonate hardness should be measured. In freshwater it should be between 4 and 10 German carbonate hardness (GCH) and in saltwater between 7 and 12 GCH. If the CH is below the levels mentioned, the pH-level is not stabilised and any alteration in the pH-level may lead to a sudden plunge in the CH! Instructions on how to adjust CH levels are given in the CH test.
The pH-level in the freshwater aquarium can be reduced by:
The pH-level in the garden pond can be reduced by:
The pH-level in the saltwater aquarium can be reduced by:
The pH-level in the freshwater aquarium can be increased by:
The pH-level in the saltwater aquarium can be increased by:
The above specified quantities increase the pH-value (depending on the initial value) by 0.1-0.5 units up to pH 8,5. KH and pH-values ought to be testet about one or two days after adding the substance. Any necessary adjustments may than be made by adding additional quantities.
Tunze Co2 Pressure Reducer 7077/3

Dennerle CO2 Night Cut-off Valve Comfort
For magnificent plant growth, DENNERLE recommends a CO2 content in the aquarium of approx. 20 mg/l.
As certain correlations apply between CO2 content, carbonate hardness (CH) and pH value, the CO2 content in the water can be calculated according to a simple procedure:
Measure the carbonate hardness of your aquarium water.
Read the pH value which corresponds to the desired CO2 content from the table. You should set this pH value +/- 0.1 by adjusting the number of bubbles accordingly. Example: Carbonate hardness 4 °d, recommended pH 6.8 +/- 0.1.
The procedure is even simpler with the DENNERLE CO2 long-term test Correct + pH.
$18.00Dymax Base Soil series decreases the hardness of the water and lower the pH level to the degree at which most aquatic plants can consume nutrients and comfortably grow. The soil granules maintain the shape and density underwater security good circulation of water oxygen through the substrate. With Dymax Base Soil, growing difficult plants become easier and it is ideal for fishes demanding soft water.
