Our flagship aquarium controller
Our Apex System is the best-value aquarium controller on the market today. Dollar for dollar you will not find a higher-quality controller that gives you more features, is easier to use, or has a larger and more active user base than the Apex. If you haven’t done so already, please read our Why Apex? page to get a high level view of why the Apex is so important to your aquarium.
The Apex System comes complete with:
The Apex Base Unit – It All Begins with the Brain
The Apex Base Unit is basically the brains of your entire Apex System. The Apex Base Unit (ABU) is far different than from what any other controller at this price level is offering. The ABU is basically a small computer whose only job is take care of your aquarium. It has a 32-bit microprocessor and a built-in web server. The web server makes it possible for your to configure and operate your Apex from any network-connected computer or mobile device – no software to install on a PC – it also means it’s Mac compatible!
The Apex runs at up to 10x the speed of other controllers in its class due to its advanced processor technology (most others use 8 or 16 bit microcontrollers). It also has enough memory on board to store many month’s worth of complete tank data in non-volatile RAM. Even with a power outage, your tank history and all configurations are safe.
Built-in Internet Connectivity
The Apex Base Unit is Internet-ready straight out of the box. Just plug it into your router and you are good to go – no software to install! This means that you can control your tank from any computer (or mobile device) in the house. There is no need, ever, to connect it directly to a computer to monitor your aquarium or update its firmware. And, once you set up external access via port-forwarding on your router, you can easily access your Apex from anywhere in the world via a web browser or via our iOS or Android apps!
And, with Internet Connectivity, the Apex can be configured so that you will get an email or text message whenever something is not quite right with your system – whether that is an over-temperature condition in your tank, the pH is out of whack, or there’s a leak on the floor!
Best Software Available on Any Aquarium Controller
Hands down, the Apex has the most feature-rich, field tested software of any controller on the market today. It all starts with the onboard web server inside the Apex Base Unit. This web server is part of the Apex’s firmware and is truly the secret sauce to it’s success.
Not tech savvy, no worries
Built-in wizards allow even the most technophobic person out there to be able to program the basics like light timers and heater control in a matter of minutes. Then, as you build up confidence and engage the awesome Apex Community Forum, you will be taking it to the next level in no time.
Uber Reef Geek, we have you covered as well
The Apex has a powerful yet easy to learn programming language. This enables every user to get creative and come up with new cool ways to use their Apex…from creating storms in their tanks, to complex dosing of additives, to unique mixing of colors on their DIY LED lights. The possibilities are pretty much only limited by your imagination. And again, the Apex Community Forum is out there to help you along as well.
Graphs, Graphs, Graphs!
The Apex has a full-featured graphing engine built right in. As an example, you can very easily compare the cycles of your outlets with temperature and pH, identify ongoing patterns of trouble, and even discover ways to cut costs like being able to visually see when two external devices (such as a heater and a chiller) are on simultaneously when they really shouldn’t be.
Going Mobile ? The Apex did!
The Apex is the only controller on the market that has manufacturer-written, full-featured applications for the computer browser (Mac or PC), iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets (currently available as a beta). Now you can take your Apex with you anywhere and check in on your tank, reprogram your lights, or even feed your fish remotely from the touch of your phone!
Complete Aquarium Monitoring right out of the box
The Apex Base Unit is equipped with the following monitoring ports:

Ideal For Direct Fed Coral
A nutrient package that stimulates feeding response.
Mix two parts tank water to one part Coralific Delite™ to form a gel. Wait 3 minutes to set then use a dropper to place mixture on the mouth of the coral to be fed.
Ideal for many LPS (large polyp stony corals) and sea anemone which have larger mouths.
Squirt & Go™ Feeding
Mix four parts tank water to one part Coralific Delite™ to form a low viscosity liquid with a creamy texture. Use a dropper to squirt food with a slow motion in the vicinity of the corals to be fed. The viscosity can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the amount of tank water.
|We recommend Hikari Marine CORALIFIC DELITE as a daily diet for|
|Soft corals like horny coral and feather dusters which have a smaller mouth.|

Upgrade your Ecotech Marine Radion XR30 Light!
Even Spread & Coloration
Once you put the XR30 Diffuser on your Ecotech Radion LED light you will instantly see a better balance of light throughout your aquarium. PAR tests have proven that even though the overall peak PAR numbers will decrease, the lower light areas will actually receive more light from a diffused source. The overall light loss is around 20%, and since a majority of us do not use even 80% of the available lighting output, the PAR loss can be combatted by increasing the overall power delivered to the LEDs.
Increased Spectrum Blending
Diffusing LED lights greatly helps blend the overall spectrum into one cohesive light source. Traditionally aquarium LEDs have used optics to increase the penetration of the light, but doing so actually makes each LED into its own little spotlight, making it harder for colors to blend. With the overall amount of light available in modern reef tank LEDs, more power is not exactly the best thing, and throughout our testing, we have found that evenly spread light that is blended properly is more important for coral health and growth.
LED lights are known for producing a lot of shimmer, also known as the "disco-ball effect" and the Ecotech Radion Diffuser directly attacks this problem head-on. With the overall goal being to mimic the natural sunlight or metal halide shimmer effects, the XR30 Diffuser is not perfect, but it gets much closer than almost any LED available today.
Installation only takes a few minutes, and by unscrewing the bottom plate with a Phillips screwdriver, you can then attach the mounting adapter plate. The diffuser lens will then magnetically attach to the adapter plate. The magnetic attachment makes the diffuser lens very easy to clean

The HI747-25 are high quality reagents that are pre-measured, allowing for users to achieve fast and accurate measurements with their Copper Low Range Checker® HC. These reagents follow the Bicinchoninate Method in which the reaction between copper and the reagent causes a purple tint in the sample. By simply adding the packet of HI747-25 reagent to the sample, the reaction will take place and the HI747 will determine the concentration from the color that is produced. The results will be displayed in ppb of copper. These reagents are designed to be used with samples that have an expected range of 0 to 999 ppb copper.
