Plate corals are a large polyp stony coral that are relatively easy to care for, however they tend to be capable of moving short distances. They come in a large variety of colour combinations, this particular specimens has a green body with a orange rim and mouth. This coral has a approximate diameter of 6 cm.
.
Plate corals show better colouration under higher lighting (100 par and above). However, when first introducing them be sure to acclimatize them over a period of time.
Moderate indirect water flow is recommended, with higher flow they tend to be able to move further.
Plate corals derive most of their energy from their zooxanthellae, however they are capable of being fed. They are able to take large meaty foods such as mysis and coral pellets, regularly feeding them can benefit them greatly.
This is a general guideline. Plate corals are tolerable of higher nitrate and phosphate levels, a good guideline will be to target stable parameters as long as they are within a reasonable range.
