Short tentacle plate corals are a type of large polyp stony (LPS) coral. Plate corals are generally a good LPS to keep as they are tolerant to a variety of water parameters and also come in various colours. This plate coral has a green colour throughtout its body, it is relatively large piece with a diameter of 10 cm.
Plate corals will do well in low or high light conditions (30 - 150 par) as long as they are properly acclimated to intense light.
Indirect low to medium flow is recommended. Plate corals do not do well in high flow as their tissue will be pulled against their skeleton, possibly causing tears in their flesh.
It is not a nessescity to feed plate coral, however it will still benefit them in the long term if they are fed corals foods, mysis or brine shrimp.
This is a general guideline. Plate corals are tolerable of slightly high nitrates, however, high phosphate levels will inhibit coral calcification, preventing growth. A good guideline will be to target stable parameters as long as they are within a reasonable range.
