Montipora spongodes are type of small poylp stony (SPS) coral, they are one of the SPS that are hardier. It is a good beginner SPS fans or individuals who wish to dwell into keeping stony corals, however it will still require suitable and stable parameters in order for it to survive. This montipora has a yellowish green base and dark red like poylps, it is mounted on a 2 cm frag plug.
.
High light (150 par and above) is recommended. Montiporas will show better colouration and growth under intense and strong light, its colour will also vary depensing on the type of light ypu have.
.
Moderate to high turbulent water flow is recommended. High flow prevents detritus from building up on the coral, while providing it with nutrients in the water.
.
Montiporas and most SPS rely mostly on their zooxanthellae, hence feeding is not required. However, they may benefit in termsmof colour amd growth when fed with small particulate foods.
.
This is a general guideline. It will be ideal to target stable parameters, as long as they are within a reasonable range, as SPS will react negatively to large swings in these parameters.
