The finger leather has branch like arms from which its polyps extend from, they are one of the easiest soft corals to care for. They are hardy and grow rather quickly, often reaching extremely large sizes in a well-cared for aquarium. These specimens originate from Australia and are great for beginners. It comes mounted with an approximate diameter of 3 - 4 cm.

Leathers do not require much light, they can be kept in a low light (30 - 50 par) setting. Exposure to high light (over 150 par) should be done over a period of time, allowing for the coral to acclimatise.
Moderate to high water movement is ideal, it is important to ensure no detritus buildup on the coral. Leather corals will also shed a waxy layer approximately once a month which the high water movement can help to remove.
Leather corals derive most of their energy from their zooxanthellae, however they are capable of being fed. Due to their small structure, smaller foods such as phytoplankton or liquid foods can be used.
This is a general guideline. Leather corals are tolerable of higher nitrate and phosphate levels, a good guideline will be to target stable parameters as long as they are within a reasonable range.
